Melissa Jackson is internationally renowned for her innovative and contemporary millinery creations.
Her unique, individually handcrafted pieces are regularly seen on celebrities, royalty and the racing set.
Sculptural, colourful, minimal, and classic with a twist – Jackson’s millinery style is distinctly recognisable.
This season, her work explores two distinct themes - her signature hand pleated straw styles, in striking face-framing shapes, with hand saddle stitched detail and smaller covered cocktail shapes, face-hugging cloche shapes or tulle chenille spot headbands reflecting a chic Art Deco mood. Trimmings include her signature straw & sinamay flowers, oversized sequin flower clusters or a colourful selection feathers birds.
“To have a ‘limited edition’ hand-made headpiece today is to ensure your outfit is as interesting as you are. Bespoke is the new standard of luxury in the marketplace.”
“Scale & proportion is extremely important…the headpiece or hat should balance one’s body shape, highlight the face, represent their personality and compliment the outfit as a whole. My designs are constructed with each individual client and their whole outfit in mind.”
“My clients want wearable head pieces or hats that have been created especially for them, by hand, from good quality materials in my Fitzroy salon.”
Jackson has always been an imaginative individual and stems from a family of creative talent. Her designs have been commissioned by a variety of Melbourne fashion houses and is represented in the textile collection of the National Gallery of Victoria.
